Laser hair removal is a device-based method of removing unwanted hair by acting on the hair follicle with laser radiation. The laser energy is selectively absorbed by melanin, destroying the follicle without damaging the surrounding tissue. The method is the most effective and safe way to remove hair long-term.
Anesthesia
For highly sensitive areas, a topical cream may be applied.
Recovery period
- Mild erythema and a feeling of warmth in the treated area may persist for 1–2 hours.
- Complete skin recovery — up to 24 hours.
- Restrictions: avoid active sun exposure, sauna and the pool for 3–5 days.
